If you live in Ghana, you already know how expensive internet data can get especially when you’re always online for work, streaming, or running your business. After struggling with high data costs myself, I finally discovered a smart hack that allows you to buy MTN data for as low as 1.07 GHS per GB.
I’ve personally tested this method, and it works perfectly. In this article, I’ll walk you through the exact steps so you too can save money while enjoying blazing-fast internet.
Step 1: Check MTN Broadband Availability in Your Area
Before you begin, you must confirm whether MTN broadband (fiber) is available in your location:
Dial *5057# on your phone.
Select Option 5 – Check Fiber Availability.
MTN will send you an SMS with a link.
Open the link and allow the site to access your location.
The system will confirm whether MTN fiber broadband is available in your area.
If it’s available, you can proceed. If not, unfortunately, this option won’t work for you.
Step 2: Register for MTN Broadband
Once confirmed, contact MTN customer service. They’ll send engineers to install and register you completely free of charge. You only need to pay for the data bundle.
Step 3: Buy the MTN Flexi Bundle (Cheapest Option)
Now comes the money-saving trick.
Dial *5057# again.
Choose Option 1 – Data Bundles.
Instead of picking the fixed packages, go to “Enter Amount to Buy.”
Input 350 GHS.
You’ll receive 326 GB of data, which works out to about 1.70 GHS per GB.
Compare this with the regular 300 GHS package (only 195 GB) and you’ll realize how much cheaper the Flexi option is.
Step 4: Pay Using MTN Mobile Money
Confirm your purchase, choose Mobile Money as your payment option and authorize the payment. Your data bundle will be activated instantly.
Step 5: Use the MyMTN App (Alternative Method)
Alternatively, you can download the MyMTN App from the Play Store or App Store.
Open the app and go to Broadband.
Select Flexi Bundle.
Enter 350 GHS as the amount.
Pay with MoMo and enjoy the same super-cheap bundle.
Why This Plan Is Worth It
Super-fast speed: Broadband is several times faster than regular MTN mobile data.
Cost-effective: At 1.70 GHS per GB, it’s one of the cheapest internet options in Ghana.
Reliable connection: Perfect for Zoom calls, YouTube, Netflix and uploading/downloading large files.
If you’re a student, freelancer, entrepreneur or content creator, this plan will save you a lot of money every month.
Inconclusion,
I’ve been using this method for months now and it has saved me hundreds of cedis on data. The best part is that the connection is not just cheap, but also stable and super fast a rare combination in Ghana’s internet space.
